Pace CEO Neil Gaydon is techMARK Personality of the Year

Yorkshire Business Leader Recognised by techMARK

December 8 2008

Neil Gaydon, CEO Pace, has been awarded the title of “Personality of the Year” for 2008 at the techMARK Awards Dinner 2008, which was held last Thursday at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

The techMARK awards ceremony, which is sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, recognises achievement and rewards success in the UK technology industry. The awards dinner has established itself as one of the largest gatherings of technology companies in the UK. techMARK is the specialist segment of the Main Market of the London stock Exchange, focussing on innovative technology companies, giving investors exposure to stocks actively involved in technologies shaping markets of the future. Pace is a member of techMARK 100 Index, the top 100 companies of the FTSE techMARK All-Share.

On accepting the award, Neil Gaydon said, “It’s an honour to receive this award from techMARK and I am thrilled on behalf of my team and the rest of the company. This is testament to the hard work of all Pace who have been outstanding in delivering the Pace vision.

“2008 has been a milestone year for us. With the acquisition of Pace France, we are now Europe’s number one set-top box maker, recognised as the leading supplier of digital TV technologies for the global payTV industry. I couldn’t be more proud of what we have achieved.”

According to techMARK, the Personality of the Year award brings, “greater focus and awareness to some of the country's fastest growing companies, and the people that run them.  Most, but not all, techMARK companies are young, pretty much all are innovative, and certainly every single one of them has, either at the helm or very close to it, a personality whose vision, drive, energy and commitment continue to make the company successful. He or she will be closely identified with the company in question, and they will be responsible for providing that vital ingredient that enables the company to stand head and shoulders above its competitors.”

Other shortlisted nominees were John Pluthero of Cable & Wireless plc, Mandy Gradden of Detica Group plc and Michael Tobin of Telecity Group plc.
