Pace’s TDC787X Aspen HD-DVR introduces the latest advanced video technology in a feature rich and cost effective HD-DVR.
The TDC787X Aspen’s dual video tuners support MPEG-4 / MPEG-2 standard and high definition video decode. MPEG-4 video streams require significantly less bandwidth than MPEG-2 to deliver quality video services, which helps cable operators support growing consumer demand for high bandwidth HD programming.
Aspen’s dual tuners allow the consumer to record two channels simultaneously while watching previously recorded content. The 250GB internal hard drive provides ample storage capacity for cable subscribers to create customized libraries on content for viewing at their leisure. If more space is needed, Aspen’s hard drive capacity can be easily expanded by the subscriber with an external hard disk drive connected via the Serial ATA port.
The Aspen set-top provides cable operators with two options for messaging and signaling between the box and the headend: DOCSIS signaling or legacy out of band. With the DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem, operators can enable next generation services like DSG and downstream channel bonding. Alternatively, many operators prefer to use the legacy out of band messaging system that provides a robust, secure platform for authorization entitlements, code download and billing system messages.
The Aspen platform runs either native electronic program guide applications, including VOD, commonly found at today’s cable systems or next generation tru2way applications.
