Bringing it all together
Our vision of convergence is a set of digital services – broadcast TV, telephone, internet, security/backup – being brought together by payTV service providers and delivered into the home.
Our business has its roots in digital entertainment. We began making digital set-top boxes in 1994, and have been pioneers in cutting-edge areas such as Personal Video Recorders and H.264. Convergence represents the next phase of our evolution, as we create the technology platforms that our clients can use to deliver high-quality convergent services in a robust, easily manageable way.
Our tailored solutions allow operators to deliver a suite of digital services to the home through a managed service portal or gateway.

The technology is there. Now, our focus is to make it work for individual operators, all of whom are at different points along the road to convergence, with different local priorities, infrastructure requirements and technology needs. But whatever they need, our technology can provide it.
As the vision evolves, so do our capabilities. Our technology is futureproof. It supports every revenue-generating service currently offered and, with the help of our expert technology partners, will be ready for those of tomorrow. Together, we will consolidate new services and functions so operators can deliver them to end-users through a robust, trusted environment.
How will the set-top box evolve? We believe that some markets will move towards an integrated, converged gateway device that distributes video, voice and data content around the home. Software, applications and services will be a key part of the home experience, while advanced residential gateways will grow in importance, both as standalone devices and in combination with set-top box products that drive entire home networks.
Our capability in convergence has been substantially enhanced by two key acquisitions: Bewan Systems, the Paris-based IP and cable gateway specialist, and 2Wire, the leading provider of broadband modems and residential gateways. Bringing 2Wire into our group opens up new opportunities to serve clients who are not necessarily active in payTV at present, such as phone or broadband providers.
