Purpose of the Job:
To assist in the continuing evolution of the Hardware Development Verification (HDV) team, assisting the Project Teams to develop and qualify products to standardised high levels of quality and reliability
Principle Accountabilities:
- Work with the HDV Team Leader, other members of the Product Verification and Test group, Engineering and CATs to develop standardised product qualification systems for use by the in-house and outsource project teams.
- Consult and liaise with project Hardware Engineers in order to implement best practice in the validation & verification of product hardware during the design and development phase
- Work with HDV and project team Hardware Engineers in order to build, maintain and implement the library of HW Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP).
- Assist in developing automated test rigs for use by the hardware development teams.
- Assist in developing methodologies for systematic validation & verification of OEM/ODM products.
- Assist in specifying and selecting equipment and hardware/software tools for use in development and the HDV engineering facility and ensuring these are available and current.
- Assist in ensuring available facilities and services are communicated to the Project teams and that these services are made available in a controlled manner.
- Work with CAT & CST in-house and outsource teams to ensure that test and qualification procedures are fully embedded into the development process and reflected in engineering practice.
- Assist in providing reports when requested on future developments and progress against current developments.
- Participate in and drive initiatives to systematically improve the quality, delivery and profitability of our products.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Essential
- HND or Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Technology discipline
- Experience within hardware projects using various technologies
- Experience of parametric, verification and validation testing within Consumer Electronics, Communications, Automotive, or Aerospace Industries
- Understanding of the requirements of development test electronic engineering for design verification and validation
- Understanding of the balance between Cost, Time to Market and Quality.
- Report writing
- Hardware and software insight
- Use of Microsoft Office.
Desirable
- Experience in performing hardware Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP)
- Development of automated test system using tools such as NI LabVIEW & TestStand
- Insight into MPEG broadcasting
- Use of corporate data systems such as MKS, Matrix (Pace), and misc. engineering application tools such as for statistical sampling and reliability prediction in an engineering/manufacturing environment
- Ability to support design and development verification tools such as electronic simulation applications
- Ability to support the Pace RF Distribution infrastructure system
Competencies & Special Aptitudes:
- Familiar with MPEG, Audio, Video & RF or other STB parametric testing process requirements and equipment.
- Must possess the capability to communicate effectively with development engineers and ODM personnel.
- Familiar with board or component level electronic testing methods and equipment.
