System expert in charge of providing technical support and guidance on the cable modem sub-system of cable set-top box products to product development project teams, industrialization team and customers.

Overall: - Deliver optimized sub-system designs according to Cost, Quality and Delivery Requirements.

Planning

• Working with Cable Modem Expert, Project Leader, H/W Project Leader, Front-End RF Team and Software Project Leader to plan the cable modem sub-system implementation activities, system validation and qualification activities, according to overall project plan and cable modem system requirements.
• Working with Cable Modem Expert, Industrialization team and Test Engineering to plan the cable modem sub-system manufacturing process and testing, according to overall project plan.
• Working with Cable Modem Expert to plan the architecture roadmap of cable modem sub-system in future products.

Delivery

• Supporting the Cable Modem implementation as per specifications, requirements and plan, based on the reference design from the cable modem chip set supplier.
• Running basic functional testing and assisting the H/W and front-end team in their testing and validation activities..
• Running integration and integration basic testing of the complete cable modem software.
• Maintaining the Cable Modem testing environment: CMTS, provisioning servers and relevant testing equipment.

Quality

• Resolving Cable Modem sub-system related issues reported by the H/W team, system validation team, technology partners (where appropriate) and by customers, internal and external.

The Cable Modem Junior Expert supports the delivery of the Cable Modem sub-system, based on the functional requirements and measured by the validation testing team.

ESSENTIAL

• Experience in embedded systems development and real-time systems, preferably in the data networking field.
• System testing procedures and methods, preferably in the data networking field.
• Low level data communication protocols, such as Ethernet
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems basic configuration and maintenance.
• Some knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite.
• Ability to communicate in English, in written as well as verbally, with non-native English speakers in Europe as well as in India and China.

DESIRABLE

• Some knowledge of DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS cable modem standards.
• Knowledge of DHCP and SNMP protocols.
• Knowledge of routers and network switches configuration.
• Ability to communicate in French: position based in Suresnes (Paris), France.
