Purpose of the Job:
- Lead the System test & QA function to define and implement a systematic test regime to ensure that Networks products meet the defined design specifications and thus when deployed by our customers meet industry accepted norms for both system reliability & uptime. This should be achieved by the utilisation of all appropriate measures, processes and field feedback to constantly improve product quality, reliability and stability.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Drive the system test team to create and apply comprehensive test suites in order to effectively validate product deployment models
- Define and agree KPI metrics for system test and report against these regularly to the engineering management team
- Manage, lead and mentor System Test & Quality Assurance team. Responsible for assuring that Networks Products meet their design specifications.
- Provide timely and effective feedback to the development team for both system test results as well as field feedback derived from liaison with the system engineering team
- Coordinate Quality Assurance testing activities with the development, architectural and systems engineering teams.
- Develop and implement the processes, procedures and standards for the review and testing of software development and maintenance.
- Manage the development of detailed test plans to ensure that testing will effectively address established test criteria and compliance requirements
- Manage system/regression/certification tests performance, conduct platform certification tests. Validate test results based on functional and design specifications and pre-defined testing guidelines.
- Manage the development and maintenance documentation of test procedures and test cases.
- Independently examine test results to confirm that proper testing was performed and correct results were obtained.
- Evaluate the testing processes, resolve discrepancies, and make improvements for effective testing.
- Manage and improve the defect tracking process and ensure disposition on all known defects.
- Review Product Overview Documents (PODs) for completeness and to ensure the requirements are testable.
- Working with the wider engineering management team drive the ongoing review and improvement of all internal processes to facilitate the timely development and delivery of all Networks products
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Essential
- 10+ years QA Management experience in a complex systems development environment.
- Extensive experience in the design and implementation of formal QA and testing methodologies and practices in a fast-paced entrepreneurial systems development company.
- Advanced experience in defining and building automated software testing tools and techniques.
- Experience in defining and building formal benchmark and load testing tools.
- Extensive experience in all phases of the QA systems development process.
- Proven experience in leading automated and manual testing including regression, performance and functional testing.
Must possess the ability to effectively communicate at all levels internally & externally (Customers and suppliers alike) - Degree or Equivalent in Computer Science/Software Engineering
- Project management experience
- Experienced in ISO 9001, 14001 and ISO 27001 implementation and roll out
Desirable
- Knowledge of Networking and Broadcast standards including DOCSIS and DVB
