To lead and manage the generation and maintenance of quality software, design and associated documentation that conforms to current Pace process to meet project and business requirements. To own the delivery of the software plan to time, quality and cost constraints.

• Architects, creates and reviews design specifications for complex software components or systems as required and as outlined in Pace product development process
• Assist Project Manager with development and co-ordination of project issues.
• Assist in definition and promotion of Pace defined quality standards for engineering
• Responsible for recruitment, allocation and prioritisation of resource in line with team requirements.
• Provide maintenance support for existing products to ensure prompt rectification of problems
• Provides overall leadership, direction and motivation for staff under his/her control
• Ensure key skills and abilities are developed and deployed in the team via communication, coaching, mentoring and performance assessment.
• Ensure proper tests, debug and verification of designs prior to release as requested
• Contribute and adhere to disciplines, process and tools in line with Pace product development process
• Lead and contribute to, formal design and project reviews
• Liaise at high level with customers, suppliers and partners
• Responsible for the timely delivery of software to the specified level of functionality and quality

Essential

• HND/Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Technology discipline, or equivalent experience, preferred
• Will have several years' commercial software development experience within the Consumer Electronics/Design for Manufacture industry.
• Knowledge of Electronics and a detailed knowledge of C programming language in an embedded environment
• Computer literate in current packages e.g. Microsoft Office Suite & Microsoft Project
• Completed several large, complex and multi-disciplinary projects using full software engineering life cycle and using appropriate design methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and reporting skills.
• Proven mentoring ability and experience in software engineering discipline
• Experience in Real Time applications and Operating Systems
• Skilled in developing effective relationships with internal and external parties.
