Shipping - Facilities Clerk

Purpose of the Job:

 

Entry level position responsible for receiving and shipping of materials for Pace. Work involves keeping documents, tracking packages, managing a small inventory of items, following policies and procedures. Responsibilities would include light facility maintenance work in the building. 

Principle Accountabilities:

 

As an example of some of the major responsibilities of the position:

  • Ensures that goods ship on time and are packaged properly to arrive at destination in good condition; making sure that the paperwork is in order and, if applicable, (for international shipments) confirming that proper documentation is with shipment.
  • Works with approved shipping agents, carriers, brokers, truckers, etc., ensuring that all shortages are reported, timely.
  • Ensures that goods arrive in a timely manner by checking pre-alerts and tracking by expected arrival dates.
  • Logs all arrivals and notifies/delivers to receiving persons or group; ensuring that documentation is complete before goods are delivered to requestor, and all shortages are reported, timely.
  • Performs small maintenance jobs around the building such as changing light bulbs, touch up painting, office moves, new-hire preparations, replenishing of products as needed, keeping track of supplies, etc.
  • Performs other work, as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

 
  • Requires ability to receive telephone calls and visitors with poise, tact and courtesy.
  • Must be well organized.
  • Must be able to identify and maintain information on receipts.
  • Requires some experience in data entry and use of Outlook, Excel, Internet access, etc.
  • Must have ability to be consistently accurate and possess good mathematical skills.
  • Warehouse skills are a plus.
  • Handyman experience is a plus

MINIMUM PHYSICAL/VISUAL/HEARING ABILITIES

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly twist and bend at waist, squat and reach.
  • Must have hearing and speaking abilities required for accurate communications, including taking/dispatching phone calls.
  • Requires visual skills necessary to perform and audit inventory tracking.
  • Must have organized and neat writing skills.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

  • Graduation from high school with some general office experience, warehouse experience, shipping or receiving experience, handyman experience.
  • Some experience working in a team environment and yet can work independently and unsupervised as needed.
  • Background in cable TV, telecommunications or related position will be considered a plus.

Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
