To act as a multi-topic specialist, generating and maintaining quality software, design and associated documentation that conforms to current Pace process and meets the project requirements. Provides insight and guidance to the Company through knowledge and awareness on software related issues

• Architects, creates and reviews design specifications for complex software components, subsystems or overall systems as required and as outlined in Pace product development process
• Lead multiple advanced development projects formulating part of the Customer Account Team's strategy.
• To support the Customer Account Team CTE in supporting the product roadmap advanced developments
• Produce well structured, documented and maintainable code to meet project goals
• Assist in definition and promotion of Pace defined quality standards for engineering
• Provide maintenance support for existing products to ensure prompt rectification of problems
• Ensure proper tests, debug and verification of designs prior to release as requested
• Contribute and adhere to disciplines, process and tools in line with Pace product development process
• Lead and contribute to, formal design and project reviews
• Create work breakdown and estimates for new projects and deliver to agreed timescales
• Define and create build environments and configuration management systems to ensure consistent usage and correct release of software.
• Challenge and question design and architecture to seek improvements.
• Act as a mentor to less experienced engineers
• Liaise at high level with customers, suppliers other third parties and professional bodies.
• Provide analysis on competitors products and systems

• HND/Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Technology discipline or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of Electronics and a detailed knowledge of C programming language in an embedded environment
• Excellent problem solving skills and analysis
• Experience of Real Time Applications and Operating Systems.
• Excellent integration skills with multiple parties' software.
• Will have several years' commercial software development experience within the Consumer Electronics/Design for Manufacture industry.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and reporting skills.
• Proven mentoring ability and experience in software engineering discipline with the ability to provide technical guidance/mentoring for local and remote teams.
• Skilled in developing effective relationships with internal and external parties.
• STB Technologies DVB, MPEG, PVR/DVR, HD-TV.
• Experience of Middleware or Conditional Access Systems.
• Understanding of IP and Ethernet networking.
