Purpose of the Job:
Principle Accountabilities:
- Lead the hardware team in the development of system level designs from customer proposals which conform to product requirements, customer specifications and Pace Development Process, reporting to the project manager.
- Oversee the generation of system level documentation from customer proposals for designs in line with the Pace Documentation Process.
- Ensure that overall hardware is fully qualified prior to production sign off in accordance with the Pace Development Process, ensure all recommendations from 3rd parties are considered.
- Perform schematic generation, circuit analysis, validation of hardware and system level designs utilizing the Company specified hardware design tools as required
- Produce accurate and detailed hardware project plans for platforms and systems, assisting the Project Management Team to ensure the project plans are both realistic and achievable.
- Produce work breakdowns and task allocations from the project plan for the hardware team.
- Lead design and project reviews ensuring all 3rd part recommendations are considered prior to progression to the next stage of the development phase.
- Liase with the software development team to resolve any problems
- Provide maintenance support for existing designs ensuring prompt rectification of problems.
- Act as a guide for other engineers to encourage their development.
- Liaise at high level with Customers, Suppliers and Partners
- Oversee the detailed analysis of competitor products and systems
- Be responsible for the day-to-day personnel management of all reporting staff
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
BE/B Tech/ME/M Tech (CSE, IT, EEE, ECE)
- Engineering graduate in Electronic & communications Engineering
- Will have commercial hardware design and development experience including, RF modulation, Video and audio processing, high-speed digital and analogue design, modems, 16 / 32 bit micro processors
- Will have experience in product design and manufacturing test & support activities
- Domain experience in STB is preferred.
- Should have knowledge of Hardware design to meet EMI/EMC requirements and other regulatory approvals
- Knowledge in mentor graphics, Oracad, Allegro, Pspice, logic analyzer etc
- Will have good and effective leadership and delegation skills
- Should possess detailed knowledge of hardware design and analysis tools including expertise in layout techniques for analogue and high-speed circuits.
- Have the ability to provide detailed analysis on competitor products providing recommendations from conclusions drawn from the evaluation
- Be able to act as mentor to other engineers.
- Have a wide experience in their Hardware Engineering Discipline
- Effective interpersonal, communication, presentation and reporting skills
