MEET OUR PEOPLE
Find out more about working at Pace. We've asked people from a variety of roles and locations to tell us, in their own words, about what they do and what is like to work at Pace.
Mark Newton
Principal Hardware Engineer, Saltaire, UK
I work as a Lead Hardware Engineer in the NDS Customer Account Team. This involves collation of customer requirements into a product specification.
Throughout the project life-cycle I make sure that the design, testing and approvals of the product are completed with a minimum of fuss. Sometimes customers modify their requirements, and I could become involved in negotiating on the commercial side to keep us on track in terms of timescales and profitability.
I work with colleagues of varied disciplines and opinions. This is good as it leads to hearty and constructive debate when dealing with day to day problems. There’s a strong work ethic and people care about their work. Good working conditions lend themselves to a professional working environment.
Being located at Salts Mill, after so many years, is still unique. I still find it strange that tourists frequent the building where I work. Salts Mill is situated close to some of the best countryside in the UK, so much better than working on an industrial estate.
Laurent Sarda
Project Manager, Suresnes, France
I drive purchasing for all our retail products, with a strong focus on pricing, time-to-market and cost-optimisation. I am also responsible for the project development of our SD (standard definition) retail products.
Suresnes is a good place to work and it’s always easy to find the people you need since the structure is a manageable size. Top management is open and always available to talk to.
Working at Pace is very exciting as we strive towards our aim of being the best and delivering great products to our customers every time. Our position in the retail market is developing rapidly which challenges me to be more aware of opportunities, while meeting the time-to-market challenge. Since a business-oriented spirit can be found everywhere at Pace, I strongly believe we will reach our goals in the coming years.
Mariela Martorella
Staff Accountant, Boca Raton FL. USA
I carry out tasks such as reconciling month end accounts and collection. It’s a varied job that could see me talking to suppliers and customers, solving problems and expediting payments.
Boca is what you would call an ‘up-scale’ neighbourhood with a large student population, great restaurants and shopping malls. Of course the weather here is fine all year round. There's a strong Spanish culture with salsa festivals and concerts and the nearby beach is a great place to chill out.
I joined Pace two years ago and have genuinely loved my time here. I can honestly say it is a good company to work for. There’s a supportive environment and I work with a good mix of people - from graduates through to experienced managers. I aim to study for my accountancy certificate and Pace is giving me the support to achieve that goal.
Sunil Nataraj
Program Manager, Bangalore, India
I’m responsible for the execution, control and delivery of Pace India projects supporting the Technology and Networks groups.
I was born and brought up in Bangalore and have seen it grow from a small industrial city, dominated by the public sector, to become the ‘Silicon Valley of India’.
Bangalore is a cosmopolitan city with many cultural influences. Almost anyone can feel comfortable here.
As for working at Pace, I particularly like the passion of people here to deliver great products to customers and the aggressiveness with which that passion is pursued.
Responsibility is taken very seriously, even at the individual level, and that makes it a wonderful place to work and be a part of.
