Making money from mobile TV

6 February 2006

CSTB2006, Moscow, Russia, 6 February 2006: Mike Alexander, Product Manager for Mobile TV at Pace Micro Technology plc (pic.l), the leading dedicated innovator of technology solutions for the payTV industry, is presenting a paper at the CSTB conference in Russia on 6 February, 2006 on how to make money from mobile TV.

Mike will be looking at the opportunity of connecting mobile devices to broadcasters' TV service portals (whether satellite, cable, terrestrial or IP) as a means of delivering premium content and applications securely.

An operational model will be presented along with a discussion of alternate delivery mechanisms and an outline of a ubiquitous architecture to address the prime requirements of high bandwidth connectivity, rich media delivery (video and other applications), content storage, content delivery and ease of use.

Example services will be explored in terms of their suitability to 'mobility' and how these services should be able to provide a fast track to ARPU (average revenue per user) from mobile services. In addition, wireless mobile TV service paradigms will be summarised (e.g. DVB-H, DMB, 3G).

Finally, Mike will conclude the session with the key tenets of deploying and operating a mobile TV service.
