Responsible business means providing a healthy and safe environment for employees which promotes well-being and engagement.
Each of Pace’s strategic business units has an established Health and Safety Committee. This is made up of health and safety representatives, a designated health and safety officer, and other persons with expert knowledge who review relevant health and safety issues. Other safety-related committees also conduct periodic reviews of specific work practices. These actions complement the UK Government’s “Health, Work, Wellbeing” (HWW) initiative which Pace has adopted and implemented. Ergonomic risk assessments are an important element of the programme for a workforce which is largely desk-based.
- Pace operations in Saltaire (UK), Boca Raton and San Jose (USA) operate return to work programmes.
- “Tool-box talks”, short presentations on specific aspects of health and safety, are published on the Pace intranet to support individual employees and line managers.
- We provide gym facilities at our sites in Saltaire and Boca Raton. Pace employees are given the opportunity to cycle to work through the provision of secure cycle facilities and showers.
- Employee engagement is measured annually through the Pace Employee Satisfaction survey, the results of which guide the company’s approach and policies.
Significant investment has been made in the Pace facilities at Saltaire which are housed in a Victorian mill complex, located in a World Heritage Site. The refurbishment programme has been driven by a commitment to the efficient use of natural resources whilst creating an environment which promotes well-being.
